July already.... It's all gone very dark
    Current mood: cheerful
    Category: MySpace

Tempus Fugit as they once said... Well my album has been put firmly albeit in a gentle way onto the back boiler... slowly simmering

I mentioned that man Tony McKenzie in my last post on here. Well it started off him asking me to work on his new album a bit of bass and vocals. It has become an all encompassing joint project. I can't say to much now but it's a big concept with potential for certainly staging as in musical...

We've written and recorded about nine tracks now since the beginning of the year. Some diverse outings stylewise for us but that all adds to the mix, makes life interesting. There's been crowd scenes scripted and my family seem to be on several tracks, in various guises.

It is one of the most interesting projects I've ever been involved with over the 35 years I've been playing music - Good Grief!! is it that long. I think we're both pushing ourselves both technically and imaginatively on this album. I've never worked so hard on or enjoyed a project as much.

My energy levels are returning to some sort of normality now although still about 85% of my pre illness level on a good day. This has been largely helped by a wonderful lady called Charmaine Berry whose been helping me get ME together with meditation and relaxation techniques. Trust me it works.

I had the distinct honour of spending several hours in the company of one of my fave guitarists yesterday - Steve Vai. Thanks to Tony. I accompanied him on the Vai Evo Premium Experience in Manchester at the Apollo. We chatted with Steve for nearly two hours, took pix, I played Steves EVO Jem albeit unplugged - pix to follow. He is a really cool guy, we saw the gig later that night, straight after watching the soundcheck which was enlightening to say the least.

His support act Zak was very entertaining and skilled guitarist. I think I'm besotted with one of the band members - sorry Dave it was Ann Marie Calhoun what a fabulous violinist and beautiful lady she is - aah well I digress.

Got to get on now, more research and more lyrics to write and a hell of a number to record next; it's all about a guy called Charles who liked this girl called.....
You'll have to wait and see..... Bye for now Keep 'on rocking', funkin' or whatever 'kin you like to doo
